No Change In Voting
The final count of votes for the five members to represent the city on the Lyttelton Harbour Board confirms the election-night results. Final figures are:— G. Manning (L) 16,374 W. P. Glue (C) 12,067 F. I. Sutton (C) 11,217 H. E. Denton )L) 11,114 F. W. Freeman (C) 10,465 Elected). C. J. Ward (C) 10,255, A. R. Mackay (C) 9341, Mrs G. E. Boyd (L) 9182, J. F. Davidson (L) 8726, R. Jones (L) 8861, A. R. Champion (I) 7107, A. E. Armstrong (I) 5108, A. L. Burk (I) 2891, A. A. Mackintosh (Lib) 1553, J. H. Moore (Lib) 1200, E. L. May (Lib) 1092; informal 499. The only new member is Mr Denton and the only member defeated is Mr Armstrong, who was elected to the board three years ago as a Labour candidate.
