Albion Moving
The Albion Rugby Club has decided to move its headquarters from Beckenham to the Riccarton district and has called tenders for the construction of new club rooms on land adjacent to Middleton Park. Albion has been declining in numerical strength in re-
cent years mainly because it was neither a closed nor a district club. A few years ago it made its headquarters at Beckenham but with the Sydenham Club also competing for younger players, Albion found that it was not attracting sufficient players to maintain a reasonable number of open grade teams, Mr S. E. Husband, president of the club, said that Riccarton had not had a senior Rugby team for many years so the club decided to centre its activities on the Riccarton district. The club realised £5OOO from the sale of its Beckenham property and this sum will be the basis of the funds needed for the new club rooms. Plans for the new club rooms provide for a club
house with three changing sheds, a showering block and toilets on the ground floor. On the second floor will be a social room from which games can be watched. Provision has been made for a gymnasium to be added to the ground floor.
