GYMNASIUM GRANT
Linwood High School The Linwood High School board has .received approval of a Government subsidy of £14.042 toward its new gymnasium. It is expected that work will start soon and be finished before next winter. The headmaster (Mr P. A. Hickling) reported that the beginning of the third term was the quietest on record, chiefly because there was no school fair to be organised. Because parent-teacher association funds were buoyant, an honours board, duplicator, rotary mower, new hall curtains. and new kitchen equipment for sports had been bought. The resignations were received of Mr P. G. Wells, an assistant master, who is going to Tonga High School, and Mrs D. Smith, commercial teacher, who is going to Dunedin.
