PAKISTAN BLOCKADE
Indian Threat Of Reprisal (N Z P A.-Reuter—Copyright > j NEW DELHI, October 12.! India last night threatened! to blockade Pakistan by sea. The Law Minister (Mr Asoke Sen), in a broadcast! over AH India Radio, said! India would be entitled to fol-1 low this course if Pakistanl launched prize court proceed-; ings over Indian ships and! cargo seized during the Kashmir conflict. Mr Sen said Pakistan was threatening to subject Indian ships and cargoes to prize court proceedings. “If this threat is carried out we shall be entitled to take, under international law, appropriate measures of reprisal like blockade and seizure of Pakistan ships or cargo destined for Pakistan," he said. Prize courts are set up by belligerent powers to adjudicate whether captured ships or goods are legitimate prizes. If they are legitimate prizes they are sold and the proceeds may be distributed to those responsible for the capture.
