Weather Station
The three-man Brockton auxiliary weather station on the Ross Ice Shelf, midway between the McMurdo and the South Pole stations, transmitted its first observations during the week-end. The station —which complements Little Jeana Station—midway between McMurdo and Byrd stations —was established last week by seven men. The men and their three ski-mounted trailer vans and equipment were flown to the station by a United States Navy skiequipped Hercules. With Little Jeana, Brockton supplies weather information for flights on the continent, particularly those between McMurdo Station and the Pole.
