Boxing Tour Off Again, This Time Definitely
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright > SYDNEY. The Australian boxing team’s tour of New Zealand has been cancelled, and this time definitely, the secretary of the Australian Amateur Boxing Association (Mr A. Tunstall) said tonight.
Mr Tunstall said he , had received a telephone call from Mr P. G. Harle, of the New Zealand Boxing Council, confirming that the tour was definitely off. The New Zealand Boxing Council on Monday night had decided to cancel the tour because there were not enough title-holders in the proposed Australian team. Mr Tunstall said that late yesterday afternoon he had spoken by telephone with Mr Harle, who told him the council had reversed its decision on condition that the Australian team contained at least eight title-holders. The eight-man team selected to make the tour contained six title-holders, Mr Tunstall said. A ten-man team had been invited to make the tour. “I made calls to Queensland and Western Australia in an attempt to fill the two vacant berths, and was still waiting for replies when he rang back,” said Mr Tunstall. “When I told Mr Harle that I was still waiting to hear from Queensland and Western Australia, he said the council could not wait
