Sketch Plans For Te Anau Hotel

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 12. Sketch plans have been drawn for the replacement of Te Anau Hotel.

The general manager of the Tourist Hotel Corporation (Mr E. C. Colbeck) said today that the plans had been approved by the corporation’s directors at a special meeting in Wellington yesterday.

Detailed planning had still to be completed, but it was hoped to call tenders before the end of the year to ensure completion by the end of October next year, Mr Colbeck said. Forty beds in twin rooms and private bath and meal services were restored yesterday, and a further 22 beds with private baths would be available within three weeks in an endeavour to meet forward commitments.

Intending visitors were being requested to check their reservations at the Te Anau Hotel because all records had been lost, Mr Colbeck said. Milford track bookings would not be affected in any way by the Te Anau Hotel fire, the district manager of the Government Tourist Bureau in Invercargill, Mr T. J. Mains, said today. All track booking records

were held in the Dunedin bureau and the only intending walkers who would be affected are those who would have reserved accommodation at the Te Anau Hotel, either before or at the end of their Milford track tour, he said.
