Japan To Build 280 Ships
(N.Z.P.A.’Reuter—Copyright) TOKYO, Oct. 12. Order books of Japanese shipyards are bulging with a record 280 ships amounting to 8,026,000 gross tons—a jump of 30 per cent compared with one year ago. A survey released yesterday by the Transport Ministry said most of the orders —220 ships, representing 6,214.000 tons—were for overseas owners.
