GUNNERS AT SHOW
Mary Martin Acclaimed (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BIEN HOA (South Vietnam), Oct. 10. New Zealand troops joined thousands of American servicemen yesterday to give the Broadway star, Mary Martin, a roaring welcome in the Vietnamese premiere of the American hit musical, “Hello, Dolly.” The concentration of so many troops, based in and around Bien Hoa strategic air base, at one point produced a major security headache. The main fear was the threat of a bomb being planted in the area or a sneak mortar attack by Viet Cong guerrillas. The location of the show was kept so secret even the cast did not know where they would perform until nearly curtain time.
