(New Zealand Press Association)
WAIPUKURAU, Oct. 11. A young woman was revived by her husband after a road accident on the Takapau Plains, south of Waipukurau last night. Her baby which was thrown onto the roadway, escaped with abrasions.
She is Mrs Stephen Joseph Howard, of Taradaie, who is in a critical condition in the Waipukurau Hospital with multiple injuries. A Waipukurau doctor said today that he had considered the woman dead after two cars collided in the plains. Mr Howard, on the doctor’s instructions, began mouth-to-mouth resuscitation at the
scene and his wife began breathing again. Their three-month-old baby was admitted to hospital with Mr and Mrs Howard. Their four-year-old son was uninjured. Also severely injured was Mrs Irene Maharey, aged 34, of Vogel street, Palmerston North, driver of the other car. She has a broken leg and concussion. Her son, Brent, was not hurt
