SELLING LIQUOR
Man Fined £220 (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 28. A 66-year-old retired man was fined £220 when he appeared today on five charges of unlawfully selling liquor and one of unlawfully keeping liquor for sale. Ivan James Turner pleaded guilty to all charges. Mr H. Jenner Wily, S.M. also ordered confiscation of 75 bottles of beer, 30 bottles of wine and 12 half-gallon flagons of wine which police seized in a raid on Turner s Ponsonby home. Detective Senior-Sergeant B. T. N. Hutton said plainclothes police bought beer from Turner on five occasions before the raid.
He charged £2 a dozen for bottles of beer and 7s 6d a bottle for wine.
