Islington Sewer
The design of the northern section of the Sockburn-Horn-by-Islington sewer reticulation scheme was affected by the freezing works, which had an output flow of 2.5 m gallons a day. Mr P. J. McWilliam, the chief engineer reported to the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening. At present the flow was disposed of by an irrigation and soakage system, he said, but this could not be expected to operate indefinitely With in-1 creasing urban development! such a system would become i objectionable preliminary treatment! was carried out at the freezing works, the effluent could be accepted into the board’s sewers, he said. |
