Australia’s Governmentowned international airline Qantas Empire Airways today reported a record net profit of £A2m (£N.Z.I.6m) on employed funds totalling nearly £A2lm (£N.Z.16.760000).
Profit was 14 per cent higher than the previous year’s profit of £Al.Btn (£N.Z.I.4m).
Directors reported they would have an urgent demand for more aircraft for operation in 1967. They said contributing factors were the general growth of tourism, particularly the quickening American interest in the Pacific area, the major increase in international convention business and the heavy demands for carrying migrants.
