Timaru Loses
(N.Z. Press Association) MASTERTON, Sept. 16. Remuera beat Timaru, four matches to one, in the final of the Cousins Shield men’s inter-club squash rackets final at Masterton last night. The women’s inter-club teams event, for the Mitchell Cup, was won by Palmerston North when it beat Remuera, three matches to two.
Details of play were:— Cousins Shield (Remuera names first). —A. Wright beat W. Green, 9-4, 9-2, 9-2; M. McKenzie beat N. Coe, 9-5, 9-3, 9-7; J. Stevens beat B. Rippon, 9-5, 9-5, 9-3; P. Dibley lost to G. Bird, 9-7, 5-9, 9-7, 5-9, 9-6; B. Tietjens beat A. Lyon, 9-1, 10-8, 9-5. Mitchell Cup (Palmerston North names first).—V. Biss beat A. Tietjens, 10-8, 9-5, 9-1; M. Meldrum beat H. Corporal, 7-9, 9-7, 9-3, 10-8; K. Richards lost to N. Lockington, 9-2, 1-9, 9-7, 9-0: J. Hislop beat V. Nixon, 9-2, 9-0, 9-0; J. Munro lost to A. Rippon, 9-6, 9-10, 9-5, 9-5.
