Briefing Given
(N.Z. Press Association) PXCKLMiD, Sept. 13. Senior service officers and civil servants from the Commonwealth and the United States were given a briefing today by members of the Auckland Manufacturers* Association.
A panel of local businessmen, under the chairmanship of Mr T. J. F. Spencer, the association’s president, answered their questions on such subjects as manufacturing, taxation, labour, trades unions and housing in New Zealand.
The party is touring Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia as the “practical” side of an Imperial Defence College course.
They are studying the military, political and economic structures of the countries visited.
Writers’ Association.—Mrs Gertrude Cree spoke to the last meeting of the Christchurch Writers’ Assodation on how her readers for infants came to be published.
