IMPRESSIVE WIN
Enrapture’s Stakes Trial Enrapture, an acceptor for the McLean Stakes at Wingatui on Saturday, was impressive in winning the fillies’ division of the parade for two-year-olds at Ashburton yesterday. Enrapture led throughout the two furlongs and won by threequarters of a length from Avobelle, which beat Starvato by a length and a half. Enrapture is by Stunning from Young Robin, and is trained by C. McDonald for Mr and Mrs D. G. Abbott. Avobelle, a half-sister by Avocat General to Rondabelle, is trained by J. L. Barr for Messrs B. J. Breen and N. W. Crosbie. The division for colts and geldings was won narrowly but well by a brown Pictavia—Dixie Leigh gelding owned by Mr and Mrs H. T. Prebble and trained by M. R. Jones. This home-bred youngster closed strongly on Sleeky Fox near the post and won well by a neck. Sleeky Fox (Arragon—Sleek Fox) was three lengths In advance of Hadlow, and then there was a length and a half to Fibreglass. Royal Encounter tailed the field after a slow start.
