Violinist Arrives
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 14. A French violinist has arrived in Wellington to join the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation Symphony Orchestra. He is Henri Bittar, the orchestra’s first French member. His appointment is a sequel to a meeting in the United States with Maurice Bonney, the present guest conductor of the orchestra. Mr Bittar began playing the violin at the age of six. He was trained by his father, a teacher at the Paris conservatory, and later by the French virtuoso, Jaques Thibaud. Mr Bittar has brought with him his £3OOO Jean Baptiste Guadanin violin.
