Will Captain Collegians
A former Otago and Canterbury batsman, R. T. Hunt, wilb captain Old Collegians in the senior cricket championship, which begins next month. Hunt, who was captain of the team in the 1958-59 season, has played senior cricket only occasionally in recent years—he has made a total of only 10 appearances in the last four seasons.
He is, however, a thorough student of cricket and he will provide a team which has not done well in recent times with firm leadership.
An aggressive and stylish I batsman. Hunt has scored. more than 2600 runs since joining Old Collegians in 1956-57 after his appointment to the teaching staff of Christ’s College. For Otago and Canterbury teams, Hunt aggregated 720 runs, and made five half-centuries. In club cricket in Christchurch, he had some outstanding successes. He totalled 647 runs in 1957-58 and in 1959-60 averaged 46.7. Last summer he played only three games,
I but scored 159 runs in five I completed innings.
