TOKYO, Sept. 14
Japanese oceanographers claim to have located the origin of the Pacific’s black current.
The spot was pinpointed by a survey group, which for 75 days zig-zagged down from Japan along the eastern coast of the Philippines. The study locates the start of the warm sea current which runs along the entire southern and south-eastern coast of Japan. The report said the current was found tfi arise where the northern half of the 621-mile-wide westward-running tropical current hits the central part of the eastern coast of Luzon Island in the Philippines.
