Prizes And Tokens
The difference in status between amateurs and professionals is being adequately shown during the New Zealand Rugby league team’s tour of Great Britain.
A cigarette manufacturer in England has donated prizes to the best player in each team throughout the tour. However, while the prize for the best home player is £lO the selected Kiwi receives a token gift. At the end of the tour the New Zealand player who has been awarded the most points in the competition will receive a valuable trophy. The prize money won by the selected Kiwis will be put into the tour entertainment fund.
