DJAKARTA, September 13.
A 3000 million guilder compensation claim by Dutch businessmen is believed to be holding up a solution to IndonesianNetherlands financial problems.
The second round of talks between Indonesia and the Netherlands had failed to reach a solution when they ended during the week-end and another round of discussions will be held in Holland.
Correspondents believe the main bar to a solution is the desire of businessmen in the Netherlands for compensation of nearly 3000 million guilders for Dutch companies nationalised by Indonesia in 1957.
The Dutch delegation led by Mr N. S. Blom, flew home to Holland yesterday after a stay of three weeks. The Netherlands and Indonesian Government delegations which are described as a “joint committee on outstanding financial problems” signed an interim confidential report to their Governments at the end of the conference.
The economic talks began
last year after the earlier restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
They are understood to Include, as well as the Dutch compensation claim, matters of trade and economic cooperation and an Indonesian claim of 100 million guilders from Holland over foreign currency matters.
