FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —An anti-cyclone centred to the north-east of the North Island is moving slowly away, but extends over northern and central parts of New Zealand; a weak cold front south-east of the South Island is moving away to the east. Forecast:
Canterbury.—Light to moderate and variable winds; some drizzle patches about the coast at first in the morning, and a few showers in the alps, otherwise partly cloudy and cool. Outlook: partly cloudy.
Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate to fresh west to north-west winds, strong at first about the sounds; cloudy tyith occasional drizzle about the sounds; elsewhere partly cloudy with a few scattered showers, mainly about the ranges; mild temperatures. Outlook: similar weather. Buller and Westland. —Moderate north to north-west winds; cloudy and mild, with rather persistent light rain. Outlook: rain.
