Landslide Damage

Sir, —Surely “Concerned Reader” appreciates the fact that the recent landslide victims in Auckland were under no obligations or pressures when they decided to buy those houses. If there is any likelihood of the house one is thinking of buying falling down a cliff then naturally one does not buy it. Surely, then, it is the owner’s fault that his house fell down a cliff and not the responsibility of other citizens who were wise enough to buy a house that was not in danger of falling down a cliff?—Yours, etc., MISER.
