FLYING TUTORS
Aid Against Shortage (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 2. The R.N.Z.A.F. has agreed to provide facilities to help New Zealand flying clubs to overcome the present shortage of instructors; according to advice received by the Auckland Aero Club. The need for training camps for aero club instructors was explained by the club president (Mr B. A. Johns) at the annual meeting. The R.N.Z.A.F. decision, ending a three-year campaign by the clubs, will take effect first with a week’s live-in course at Ohakea station from October 11 for chief flying instructors from New Zealand clubs. The clubs will be expected to provide a certain number and types of light aircraft, and the Department of Civil Aviation wi’J be asked to send flight testing officers to act as observers and for group discussions.
It is thought the junior instructors will be able to attend a course at Ohakea later.
