AMBULANCE MILEAGE
Increase On Other Years
St. John Ambulance Association vehicles last month travelled 12,135 miles and carried 2376 patients, said the association’s secretary-treasur-er, Mr G. A. Brown. In July the vehicles travelled 13,237 miles and carried 2454 patients while in August, 1964, 10,117 miles were travelled and 1871 patients transported. Even though the mileage figure for August was down, compared with that for July, it was still the highest ever recorded for that month in any year. Motor vehicle accidents numbered 65, resulting in 87 patients being carried, compared with 77 accidents in July and 90 patients. That was six more motor accident patients than were carried in August, 1964. Miscellaneous accidents numbered 51 for the month, as against 62 in July, Mr Brown said.
