Vice-Regal Tour Itinerary
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 2. The Governor-General (Sir Bernard Fergusson) and Lady Fergusson will visit Christchurch, Marlborough, Nelson and the West Coast in October.
They will use a helicopter for part of their tour. The Vice-Regal pair will arrive at Lyttelton by steamer from Wellington on October 10. They will attend a special service in the Christchurch Cathedral that morning, and Sir Bernard Fergusson will lay the foundation of the new assembly hall at Christ’s College. The next day they will visit French Pass, D’Urville Island and. if the weather permits, Stephens Island. They will spend the night at Takaka and fulfil official engagements in the town next morning. On Tuesday afternoon they will visit Collingwood and Farewell Spit, and return to Takaka for the night. The programme for Wednesday, October 13, includes visits to Karamea and other places in the Puller County on the way south to Westport. The Governor-General and
Lady Fergusson will stay on Wednesday night ait Westport, and on Thursday will travel through the Buller Gorge to Blenheim district, with stops at Inangahua Junction, Murchison, Lake Rotoiti and Wairau Valley. Their Excellencies will spent Friday privately in the Blenheim district, and will fly back to Wellington in the late afternoon of Saturday, October 16.
