“Rat Race” Circuit
BRISBANE, Sept. 2. The Queensland tennis player. Miss Robyn Ebbern, has retired from competitive tennis because, she says, she loves the game. Miss Ebbern, aged 21, was a Wimbledon women’s doubles finalist and was ranked No. 6 in the world last year. “I really love to play tennis. But for me the enjoyment went out of the game when I went on the international circuit,” Miss Ebbern said tonight. “It becomes a bit of a ‘rat race’ and certainly not much fun. “I play social tennis now and I am much happier,” she said.
Ice Skating.— The Canterbury provincial figure skating and short-track speed skating championships will be held at the indoor rink on Sunday.
