PRAISE FOR SELECTOR
Cricket Assn. Report The sole selector, Mr W. McD. Anderson, and the Canterbury Plunket Shield team are praised in the Canterbury Cricket Association’s annual report. Of the team, the report commented on “a first-class team effort—the batting successes being relatively well spread, while wickets taken were shared remarkably evenly among the bowlers." Of Mr Anderson, the report said: “The many hours put in . . . were a source of inspiration to all who were connected with the side, his insistence on all play ers putting in equally long hours of toil, coupled with his simple, direct methods in approaching all problems ensured that a happy team spirit was in evidence throughout the season.” The report also praised “the offensive spirit” of the team in the field and gives credit to the captain, G. T. Dowling.
