Magistrate’s Court Probation For Being Idle And Disorderly
“The way you are going, you are going to ruin your life in a very short time,” Mr E. S. J. Crutchley, S.M.. told Tawera Pitman, aged 18. unemployed, in f’e Magistrate’s Court yesterday when he released her on probation for 18 months.
Pitman was appearing for sentence on a charge of being idle and disorderly at Lyttelton on August 18 in that she had insufficient lawful means of support. On further charges of breach of probation at Auckland and failing to appear for sentence on that charge, she was remanded on bail to September 8. The Magistrate said that it was the second time Pitman had come before the court on a charge of being idle and disorderly. The only alternative to probation was Borstal, and if Pitman committed any more serious offences, she: would be sent there. REMANDED Osomalelau Ainoa, also known as Tony Christopher Ainoa, aged 25, a carpenter, an American Samoan, was remanded on bail to September 1 on a charge of being a prohibited immigrant. TRAFFIC CASES In traffic cases brought by the Transport Department, convictions were entered and penalties imposed as follows, with costs of £1 IDs tn each case: Exceeded 30 miles an hour: Ravmond Atwell Ayton, £4; Kenneth George Burchmore, £5; Paul Richard Dunn. £8: Raymond Frederick Harrison. £6; Donald Hope. £5: Colin John Wright. £4: Dennis Oman, £5. Speed too great to stop: Ivan Nation. £6. Failed to stop at stop sign: Denis Terence Ager, £3: Evelyn Alice Downs. £5: Raymond Arthur Johanson. £3. Used a vehicle without rea-
tsonable consideration: Philip i Harry Gibbons, £5 (failed to produce driver’s licence, £2). ; No driver’s licence. Astrid I Muriel Herbert. £3. ■ Failed to produce driver’s licence: Jack Godfrey White, £2 !<no warrant of fitness, £1). Carried pillion passenger contrary to conditions of licence: John Gary Moore, £2 (no warrant of fitness, £1); Malcolm Paul Shynig, £2. Permited unlicensed person to drive: William James Mackay. £3.
