George Harrison’s Neighbours Upset

(N.Z.P.A.- Reuter —Copyright)

LONDON, August 10. The Beatle, George Harrison’s, harrassed neighbours tonight declared war on his fans who invade the area hoping to catch a glimpse of their idol. More than 100 residents of the quiet sharebroker-belt suburb of Esher are tired of screaming teen-agers. They have been asked in a circular letter to challenge and report to the police anyone looking like a Beatle fan. One neighbour who received a copy, Mr Leslie Little, said: “ft is a splendid idea to call the police. We are being invaded far too much. Only last week I had a whole crowd of young people playing transistor radios on my grass verge.” The secretary of the local housing association, Mr H. T. A. Rutherford Warren, described Harrison as “an extremely nice young man.” But the fans were “a damn nuisance who trespass on private property.” Harrison, who leaves with the three other Beatles for a three-week tour of America on Saturday, said tonight he had received a copy of the

letter but would not worry about it. “I want privacy as much as anyone else,” he said. “But I doubt if I shall call the police to my own fans.”
