Social Security Payments
Sir, —The injustices concerning emergency benefits and special assistance are due to Government policy which the Government has refused to change in spite of pleas by Opposition members and a written submission by an independent witness to the social services select committee in 1964. “Anti-Humbug" has not yet proved that the Government Statistician is wrong, in ‘hat living costs have soared since the 1960 General Election. The Tories made no announcement about the state of our overseas funds until about three months after the 1960 election, and even then Mr Nordmeyer disproved their charges that Labour squandered overseas funds.—Yours, etc., DISILLUSIONED NATIONALIST. August 11, 1965.
