Obituary CANON FREDERICK KEMPTHORNE
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. August 10. Canon Frederick Maurice Kempthorne, vicar of St. Mary’s Church, Karori, for more than 20 years, has died at Selwyn Village, Auckland. He was 75. Born in Nelson, he was educated at Nelson College and St. John’s Theological College, Auckland, before being ordained in 1915.
He served as assistantcurate at St. Peter’s Church, Wellington, was vicar of Pohangina, from 1919 to 1927. He was viear of Karori from 1929 to 1950 and was also chaplain of the Samuel Marsden Collegiate School in Wellington. He was’ a brother of the late Bishop in Polynesia (the Rt. Rev. L. S. Kempthorne) and a brother of the late Canon Arnold Kempthorne, formerly vicar of Milton, Otago.
