Mali Peter Picked For Pukekohe Leg

"The Press” Special Servlet AUCKLAND. The return to racing of Lu Filou and Rochdale in the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the W. J. Short Handicap, promises to be the item of most interest at Pukekohe today. The field for the first leg, the Motion Handicap, is unfortunately sadly lacking in number and quality. Besides Lu Filou and Rochdale, the Short Handicap field includes Mali Peter, General Derby, Master Defence, and Bottle Top so the outcome is going to be interesting. The Takanini candidates, Craddock and Emphatique, dominate the Motion Handicap. Each is a free galloper in winter going with a good background of recent form. The best of the others might be Straight Time and Captain Lancaster. If the fine weather continues, as seems likely, the track will be in good order for winter.
