JOCKEYS’ MATCH
ToPlay Police The inter-island jockeys’ Rugby match, which has been played during the Grand National meetings for some years, will not be held this year because there are fewer North Island jockeys at the meeting. Instead, a New Zealand jockeys team has been selected to play the Police at Hornby Domain on Sunday. The jockeys' team is:— G. T. Dobbs, J. D. Pankhurst, R. O. Cairns, K. W. Quayle, N. T. Cowles, B. P. Kennedy, R. L. Browning, P. K. Cathro, B. T. Jones, A. Cowan, B. L. Hillis, L. N. McGuire, M. J. Wildermoth, N. C. Treweek, R. A. Jenkins. Reserves: J. H. Hely, B. J. Anderton, J. R. Dowling, C. N. McGovern. The police side is:— R. Barrell; M. Kaa, N. Scott, R. J. Morgan: T. D. Gorman, W. R. Withers; J. A. Dawson (captain); D. Burford: G. Orman, A. D. Cunningham, A. J. Leslie, P. B. Peoples; P. O’Halloran, K. Gallagher, D. D. J. Douglas. Reserves: B. Thompson. D. Hore.
