GAOL RIOT CHARGE
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 6. An 18-year-old steel worker, Ross Noel Smith, was remanded in custody to August 13 today when he was charged with wilfully setting fire on July 20 to bedding belonging to the Government. The charge comes after last month’s Auckland gaol riot. Sergeant G. W. Herbert said further charges were pending.
