The Prime Minister reviewed Britain’s economic position with key Ministers yesterday after the disclosure that the country’s gold and dollar reserves had dropped sharply last month. In spite of a welter of rumours, the pound showed strength on the London foreign exchange market. Informed sources said that the Ministers at their hourlong meeting were satisfied that in spite of the adverse reserve figures, the situation did not call for further measures beyond the restrictions on credit and public spending announced last week.
