Road Safety

Sir, —I have noticed that even on clear nights it is hard to see objects on the road until you are almost on them unless there is overhead lighting. If traffic and police cars carried a flood-light which could be erected on a telescopic “lamp post” these would light ears, people, and objects involved in an accident without the possibility of being obscured by persons standing in front of them. It would be worth trying for the sake of the safety of our police and traffic officers.— Yours, etc., AMBERLEY. August 5, 1965.
