Sample At Washdyke (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, Aug. 5. Two samples of water for bacteriological examination were taken from different points on the supply scheme on March 31. The analyst’s report showed that samples taken at the Levels council’s yard, Washdyke, and also at the fire station. Pleasant Point, gave evidence of excretal pollution, the medical officer of health at Timar’u (Dr. R. D. Bailey) said in a letter to the Downlands Water Supply Committee today. The chairman (Mr D. C. Doake): It makes one wonder how that arose. The Government Analyst (Mr N. P. Alcorn), reporting on Washdyke, said that coliform organisms had been found in the tap over the sink in the men’s lunchroom at the council’s yard. Twenty-five coliform organisms from a tap outside the north-east end of the fire station, Pleasant Point, had been analysed.
