South African Institute (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) PORT ELIZABETH, Aug. 5. Security police yesterday carried out a 90-minute raid on the Port Elizabeth branch of the South African Institute of Race Relations. They took away papers and pamphlets, including the institute’s membership lists, minutes of meetings, correspondence files and details of meetings at the institute’s headquarters in Johannesburg. The institute is a non-party political, multi-racial body which aims at improving race relations in South Africa. Its president is the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Durban.
