OUTING FOR CHILDREN
Special Car Chib Rally About 30 children from the School for the Deaf, Sumner, will be given a special treat this week-end. A local car club, the Rallies and Trials Enthusiasts’ Club, is to hold a special car rally on Sunday, and the children will be guests of the chib on the rally. Last year the club held a special rally outing for the children for the first time, and it proved such a success with the children that it was decided to repeat the outing this year. The rally will be held in the Summit road area, and will last about two hours. The children will travel two to a car. The refreshments for the afternoon tea break will be provided by the organisers. To assist in this one city firm has given some chocolates, while another firm has donated soft drinks. There will be special prizes for the children in the cars which fill the first three places. To make sure that they help the winning cars to gain their places, the children in each car will have to fill out a questionnaire on objects they pass, the words written on signs, and so on.
