THAILAND WARNED
Communist Threat (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) BANGKOK, Aug. 5. The Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, General Charusathien, said yesterday that the Communists had started underground war against Thailand. The United States should make greater efforts to protect Thailand but Washington, and even American officials in Thailand, found it difficult to see the Communist menace in proper perspective, he said. “Thailand should have more adequate means of defence against Communist aggression,” the general said. A Thai police patrol killed one Communist terrorist in a brief clash with an armed gang early this week on the Thai-Malaysian border. This was the second reported clash during the last two weeks.
