TUNKU BACK
Singapore Talks (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright > SINGAPORE, August 5 The Malaysian Prime Minister (Tunku Abdul Rahman) flew to Singapore early this morning after an absence from Malaysia of almost two months. The Tunku told reporters at the airport that he would meet the Singapore Prime Minister (Mr Lee) to settle differences between the Malaysian Central Government and the State Government. Outside the airport lounge, United Malays National Organisation supporters were carrying placards reading: “Lee Kuan Yew is an enemy from within,” "Suspend the Singapore constitution,” “Crush Le Kuan Yew” and “We do not want Singapore to become a Palestine." The Tunku told the gathering: “In spite of your placards, it is necessary for me in the interest of the nation to speak with Mr Lee. “In a democratic country it is normal for hot words to be thrown about, so long as they do not transcend the boundary of justice. “We are here to keep the peace, not only for us but for future generations.”
