NATIONAL BAND
Tour OfN.Z. Begins Today (N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, July 27. The National Band of New Zealand will leave Timaru tomorrow on the first stage of its concert tour of the Dominion and North America. With the band will be the Aotearoa Maori Group. Today, the band held its final pre-tour rehearsal. The musical director (Mr N. A. Thorn) said he was confident that after the New Zealand section of the tour, which would begin in Invercargill and end in Auckland, the band would be in top form for its concerts in the United States and Canada during the next three months.
“I think we can claim to have a pretty good combinjk tion,” Mr Thorn said. “The concerts in New Zealand will improve the band further, and we have no fears as to how the American audiences will receive us.”
