BURNSIDE BEATEN
Kuranui Too Strong "The Press" Special Service MASTERTON, July 26. In a match played in greasy conditions at Greytown today the Burnside High School Rugby team was beaten by 17 points to 3 by Kuranui College. The visitors were well shaded in the forwards and consequently Kuranui enjoyed an allround advantage in possession Burnside defended well in the difficult conditions and cleared their line under heavy pressure at times. Burnside's only points came in the second half when A. Patterson broke through for a try which was not converted. Kuranui scored five tries, one of which was converted. Burnside apeared travelweary after the trip from Christchurch and was outplayed by a stronger, fitter side. Burnside also lost the girls' hockey, boys' hockey and both basketball matches. But if they did not win on the playing fields the visitors at least won the debating contest.
Discharged. The Springbok wing, J. P. Englebrecht, was discharged from Christchurch Hospital yesterday and will travel by car to Greymouth this morning. Englebrecht suffered concussion in a collision with his team-mate, L. G. Wilson, in the game against Canterbury on Saturday.
