NOTABLE RUGBY RIVALRY RENEWED
AF TER 44 years, and three previous encounters, the Rugby players of Canterbury will once more take the field against Sout h Africa on Lancaster Park today. Stirring Rugby has been the rule in these games so far, with Canterbury having’the enx table record of two wins and one loss, an d it is to be hoped that this match will maintain the standard of hard but clean football. As Lancaster Park has been closed for a fortnight, the ground should be in first-class condition for the game. As both teams have fast back-lines there seems no reason why the expected record crowd should not see both sides run with the ball. The struggle for supremacy between the packs will be intense, but a hard game need not be a dull one. Both sides are capable of good football and the side that wins will have earned its victory.
