WORLD FLIGHT BY HERCULES

28,000 Miles In 85 Hours (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 23. An R.N.Z.A.F. Hercules Cl3O transport aircraft is expected to fly 28,000 miles around the world in 85 hours. Starting on Tuesday it will be the first west-bound world flight by any New Zealand aircraft. An R.N.Z.A.F. Hastings made the first east-bound world-circling flight in August, 1962. On the outward journey, the Hercules will call at Port Moresby, Singapore, Aden, Cyprus and Britain. Police for Cyprus, and passengers for Singapore, will be on board. On the return flight, calls will be made at New York, San Francisco and Honolulu. A supply of spare parts for the Hercules will be collected in San Francisco. The aircraft will return on August 11.
