NAMES FOR NEW CITY
Five Selected For Ballot (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 23. Manurewa and Manukau, the names of the two amalgamating bodies, will be oifered as names for the new South Auckland city. Churchill, Rutherford, and Akarana are the other three. All will appear on postal ballot papers to be sent to electors. A special committee of the Mayor and deputy-Mayor of Manurewa and chairman and deputy-chairman of Manukau chose the names today from 250 suggestions. They will be sent to the Geographical Board in Wellington for approval. Voting papers will then be sent to every elector in Manurewa and Manukau, which have a combined population of about 60,000.
