SMITHFIELD MARKET
Lamb Prices Firmer OV.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 23. Light supplies of homekilled and chilled beef resulted in firm prices early in the week on London’s Smithfield market, but increasing buyer resistance later gave rise to slightly easier prices, says the Meat Board market information service. Moderate pitchings of New Zealand lamb met with an improved inquiry and prices firmed during the week. There was little trading in New Zealand mutton at unchanged nominal prices. Wethers were at 17d to 18d per lb and ewes at 12d per lb. New Zealand beef was not quoted. Price Range Quotations for New Zealand lamb: —
