Tasmanian Tour Is Essay Prize
A week's tour of Tasmania in December is the prize for a New Zealand boy and girl who win an essay competition conducted by the Tasmanian newspaper, the “Examiner,” in conjunction with the Tasmanian Government. Details of the competition have been sent to secondary schools, and pupils are asked to write an essay on “Tasmania—lts Pioneers, Its People, Its Progress.” The winners, two from New Zealand and 10 from Australia, will be selected by the Tasmanian directors of education, tourism and immigration and industrial development. The successful New Zealand entrants will fly to Australia by Air New Zealand. Touring the state as guests of the Tasmanian Government, they will be given civic receptions in Hobart and Launceston, and will visit some of the largest industries and main tourist attractions. Entries for the competition dose on October 4. The tour will 1 start from Launceston on December 11.
