Wastage
The British furniture industry’s bill for lacquer spraying was £3m a year, but onethird of the lacquer did not go on the furniture, it was wasted, said Dr. W. B. Sutch to the Timber Development Association. The Furniture Industry Research Association was reporting confidentially to members changes in technique that could save each firm onefifth of its costs.
Mr A. Goldsmith has been appointed a chief traffic officer with the Transport Department in Christchurch. Formerly he was senior traffic officer in the district. Mr E. Wilson is the chief traffic officer but thus position has been divided into areas of responsiihiKty to be shared by Mr Wilson and Mr Goldsmith.
